Jo Adriaenssen, DC, DIBAK
Jo Adriaenssen began his career as a physiotherapist in Ghent in 2007. Early on, he gained valuable experience working with elite athletes, including two years as the second physiotherapist for a first-division football team. Driven by a desire to deepen his clinical understanding, he began studying chiropractic in 2009.
During his chiropractic studies, Jo collaborated with the Belgian judo and gymnastics federations, attending both European and World Championships from 2011 to 2014. After graduating as a chiropractor in 2014 from IFEC, he became the head of medical staff for the Belgian Gymnastics Federation, while also establishing a chiropractic practice in the south of France.
In 2016, his work expanded to the Olympic level, as the Belgian Olympic Committee enabled him to participate in international training camps. That same year, he served as the team chiropractor for Belgium at the Rio Olympic Games.
With a growing family, Jo shifted his focus to private practice, building a multidisciplinary clinic alongside his wife in the south of France. Since 2019, he has been a certified Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET) and LP NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) practitioner, and earned his Diplomate from the International Board of Applied Kinesiology (DIBAK).
Since late 2023, Jo has been an official teacher of Applied Kinesiology.
His wife, Marike Jansingh-Adriaenssen, also a chiropractor since 2012 and a graduate of IFEC, founder of their family practice, is specialised in pediatrics. She will be present at the seminar as well to help you during the workshops
Intro to AK - Applied Kinesiology
Developed in 1964 by Dr George J. Goodheart Jr., A.K. is an interdisciplinary approach to health care which draws together the core elements of the complementary therapies, creating a more unified approach to the diagnosis and treatment of
functional illness. A.K. uses functional assessment measures such as posture and gait analysis,
manual muscle testing, range of motion, static palpation, and motion analysis. During a functional neurological examination, the manual muscle tests are used to monitor the physiologic response to a physical, chemical, or mental stimulus.
These assessments are used in conjunction with standard methods of diagnosis,
such as clinical history, physical examination findings, laboratory tests, and instrumentation to
develop a clinical impression of the unique physiologic condition of each patient. When appropriate, this clinical impression
is used as a guide to the application of conservative physiologic therapeutics.
The practice of applied kinesiology requires that it be used in conjunction with other standard
diagnostic methods by professionals trained in clinical diagnosis. As such, the use of applied
kinesiology or its component assessment procedures is appropriate only to individuals licensed to
perform those procedures.
When you start to learn about A.K. and you add the manual muscle test to your scope of practice, it is not always easy in the beginning to integrate this information into your daily work. Jo created a protocol in order to organise, detect and treat some postural priorities you should not miss in order to help / understand your chronic patients better.
